ഇബ്നു അബ്ബാസ് (റ) പറയുന്നു. നബിﷺക്ക് സൂറതുൽ ഗാഫിർ അവതരിച്ചു. അവിടുന്ന് കഅബയുടെ ചാരത്തിരുന്ന് പാരായണം ചെയ്തു. വലീദ് ബിൻ അൽ മുഗീറ ശ്രദ്ധാപൂർവ്വം അത് കേട്ടിരുന്ന ശേഷം ബനൂ മഖ്സൂമുകാരുടെ സദസ്സിലേക്ക് കടന്നു ചെന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. മുഹമ്മദ് ﷺ പാരായണം ചെയ്യുന്ന വചനങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ കേട്ടിട്ടു വരികയാണ്. ഞാനെന്തു പറയാന്‍. കവിതയോ കാവ്യമോ ജിന്ന് പദ്യമോ അങ്ങനെ അറബി ഭാഷയിലെ ഏതൊരു സാഹിത്യശാഖയും നിങ്ങളേക്കാളധികം എനിക്ക് വഴങ്ങും. ദൈവമാണെ, മുഹമ്മദ് ﷺ സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുന്ന വചനങ്ങള്‍ അവയില്‍ ഒന്നിനോടും സാദൃശ്യമുള്ളതല്ല. ആ വചനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വിസ്മയാവഹമായ ഒരു മാധുര്യമുണ്ട്. ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ചന്തം. അതിന്റെ കൊമ്പും ചില്ലയും ഫലപൂയിഷ്ടമാണ്. വേരുകളാവട്ടെ, പതമുള്ള മണ്ണില്‍ ആണ്ടിറങ്ങിയതും. അത് സര്‍വ വചനങ്ങളേക്കാളും ഉത്തമം. തീര്‍ച്ച! അതിനെ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ മറ്റൊന്നിനും സാധ്യമല്ല. നിസ്സംശയം അതിന്റെ കീഴില്‍ അകപ്പെടുന്ന സര്‍വതിനെയും അത് മറികടക്കും. ഇത്രയും പറഞ്ഞ് വലീദ് നടന്നകന്നു.
ഇത് ഖുറൈശികൾക്കിടയിൽ ചർച്ചയായി. അവർ പറഞ്ഞു വലീദ് സാബിഇയ്യായി അഥവാ മതം മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു. 'ഖുറൈശികളുടെ സുഗന്ധം' എന്ന് പ്രസിദ്ധനായ വലീദ് മതം മാറിയാൽ ഖുറൈശികൾ മുഴുവൻ മതം മാറിയേക്കും. അബൂജഹൽ ഇടപെട്ടു. അത് ഞാൻ ശരിയാക്കിക്കോളാം.
അബൂജഹൽ ദുഃഖം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് വലീദിന്റെ വീട്ടിലെത്തി. അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങി. അല്ലയോ അമ്മാവാ ഖുറൈശികൾ നിങ്ങളെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി സമ്പത്ത് സമാഹരിക്കുകയാണ്. നിങ്ങൾ മുഹമ്മദ് ﷺ ന്റെ പുത്തന്‍വാദഗതികള്‍ ശുദ്ധ അസംബന്ധമാണെന്ന് ജനങ്ങളെ ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തണം.
അയാൾ പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാൻ അതിസമ്പന്നനാണെന്ന് ഖുറൈശികൾക്കറിയാമല്ലൊ. അബൂജഹൽ പറഞ്ഞു. ഏതായാലും ഈ വിഷയത്തിൽ നിങ്ങൾ വിയോജിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞാലേ പറ്റൂ. വലീദ് പറഞ്ഞു, ഞാനെന്ത് പറയാനാ. മുഹമ്മദ് ﷺ ന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ മനുഷ്യന്റെയോ ജിന്നുകളുടെയോ വചനമേ അല്ല. അബൂ ജഹൽ പറഞ്ഞു, ജനങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെ തൃപ്തിപ്പെടണമെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ അത് പറഞ്ഞേ മതിയാകൂ. വലീദ് പറഞ്ഞു, ഞാനൊന്നാലോചിക്കട്ടെ!
വലീദ് ജനങ്ങളെ അഭിമുഖീകരിച്ചു. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ.. മക്കയിൽ ഹജ്ജ് സീസണായിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു. എല്ലാ നാട്ടിൽ നിന്നും ആളുകൾ ഇവിടെ എത്തിത്തുടങ്ങും. സ്വാഭാവികമായും ഇവിടെ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ട വ്യക്തിയെ (മുഹമ്മദ് ﷺ )കുറിച്ച് അവർ അന്വേഷിക്കും. അപ്പോൾ എല്ലാവരും പറയുന്ന അഭിപ്രായം ഒന്നായിരിക്കണം. പലതായാൽ ആളുകൾക്ക് വിശ്വാസമാകില്ല. അപ്പോൾ നമ്മൾ എന്താണ് പറയുക.? അവർ പറഞ്ഞു, നിങ്ങൾ തന്നെ പറയൂ വലീദ്. എന്താണ് പറയുക? ഇല്ല, നിങ്ങൾ പറയൂ ഞാൻ കേൾക്കട്ടെ.
ചിലർ പറഞ്ഞു. ജോത്സ്യൻ എന്നായാലോ?
വലീദ്: ദൈവം സത്യം! അത് ശരിയല്ല. ജോത്സ്യത്തിന്റെ ഒരു ലക്ഷണവും മുഹമ്മദി ﷺ ൽ ഇല്ലേ ഇല്ല.
ചിലർ: ഭ്രാന്താണെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാലോ?
വലീദ്: എത്ര ഭ്രാന്തന്മാരെ നാം കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. അതിന്റെ ഒരു ലക്ഷണവും ഇവിടെക്കാണാനില്ല.
ചിലർ: കവിയാണെന്നായാലോ?
വലീദ്: കവിതയുടെ വൃത്തവും അലങ്കാരവും കാൽപനികതയും ഘടനയും ഒക്കെ നന്നായി നമുക്കറിയാം. പിന്നെങ്ങനെയാ അതാരോപിക്കുക?
ചിലർ: എന്നാൽ പിന്നെ ദുർമന്ത്രവാദിയാണെന്ന് പറയാം.
വലീദ്: ഇത് മാരണവും അല്ല. അതിലെ ഊത്തോ കെട്ടോ ഒന്നും ഇതിലില്ല.
തുടർന്ന് അയാൾ ഖുർആനിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതകൾ പറഞ്ഞു. ശേഷം ഇങ്ങനെ തുടർന്നു. ഇപ്പോൾ ആരോപിക്കാൻ പറ്റിയ ഒരു കാര്യം മാരണം എന്നതേ ഉള്ളൂ. കാരണം, ഇവിടെ വിശ്വാസികൾ അല്ലാത്തവർ എന്ന പേരിൽ പിതാവും മക്കളും കുടുംബക്കാർ തമ്മിലും ഭിന്നത വരുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ അതു മുന്നിൽ വെച്ച് 'മാരണക്കാരൻ' എന്നാരോപിക്കാം. എല്ലാവരും ഒത്തുസമ്മതിച്ചു തൽകാലം പിരിഞ്ഞു.

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the chapter 'Al-Ghafir' was revealed to the Prophetﷺ and he recited it sitting near the holy Ka'aba. Waleed bin Al-Mughira listened to it carefully and entered to a place where the people of Banu Makhzoom thronged. He said, I am just coming after hearing the verses recited by Muhammad ﷺ. what can I say ?!. Poetry, goblin verse, etc., any branch of literature in the Arabic language surrender before me more than you. By God, the sayings of Muhammad ﷺ bear no similarity to any of them. Those words have an amazing sweetness. A special grace. It's branches and twigs are fruitful and its roots are deeply rooted in fertile soil. It is better than all words. Of course nothing can defeat it. Undoubtedly it will surpass all that come on it's way.Waleed said this and walked away.
This became a debate among the Quraish. They said that Waleed had become a Sabie or converted. If Waleed, who was famous as 'the fragrance of the Quraish', converted, the whole of the Quraish might convert. Abu Jahl intervened. I will manage that crisis.
Abu Jahl came to Walid's house pretending sorrow. He started saying, "O uncle, the Quraish, are accumulating wealth to hand over to you. You must convince people that the innovations of Muhammad ﷺ are pure nonsense.
He said, "Don't the Quraish know that I am very rich." Abu Jahl said, "Anyway, you can disagree on this matter." Waleed said, "What can I say? The words of Muhammadﷺ are not the words of men or Jinns." Let me think!
Waleed faced the people.. It is Hajj season is nearing in Mecca. People will start arriving here from all over the country. Naturally, they will inquire about the person (Muhammad ﷺ) who appeared here. Then opinion of the everyone of us about Muhammad ﷺ should be same. If there are too many opinions people will not believe. So what do we say? They said you say it yourself Waleed. No, you tell me, I'll listen.
Some people said, 'What about a fortune teller?
Waleed: by God , it is not true, there is no sign of astrology in Muhammadﷺ. some peopleh said .it is madness.
Waleed: We have seen madmen, and there is no sign of it here.
Some said: What if we say, a poet?
Waleed. We know the metre, rhetoric, imagination and structure of the poem very well. Then what to accuse ?
Some people said: then we can say that he is a black magician.
Waleed: It is not sorcery. There is no blowing or knot in it.
Then he told the features of the holy Qur'an and continued like this. The only possible allegation we can raise agaist him is 'sorcery'. Because here fathers, children and family members engage in conflict in the name of this belief. So we can accuse him as a sorcerer as he causes rift among family members. All agreed and parted for the time being.
